Last week, I had the opportunity to present on the Intellectual Property (IP) Protection of Fashion Designs while completing my articling term. This presentation critically examines how the current forms of Canadian IP protection impact Canada’s fashion sector, as well as differ from IP protection internationally. In providing a framework for lawyers on how to most effectively navigate and understand the way that IP impacts designers, lawyers will be able to best serve their clients by wrapping as much protection around their designs as possible. Likewise, this presentation provides insight for designers on key aspects of IP law which can impact their business.
